Rapak's installation of two Rapak Autokap™ 1210E fully automatic Bag-in-Box filling machines in Britvic's Leeds factory has led to a major boost in productivity. Each of the machines is capable of filling 10 litre and 20 litre bags of post mix syrup at rates of 13 and 9 bags per minute respectively. Between them, the two fillers can produce in excess of 4.5 million units per year.

Change-over times have been dramatically reduced by Rapak's quick change bag into box loaders and the new ‘quick connect' technology also allows 10 and 20 litre bags to be interchanged in under three minutes.

Other benefits of the new Autokap™ machines are:

• user-friendly colour touchscreens which permit engineers to alter operational parameters during the production run

• the servo driven fillers can be linked to the manufacturer's process control system to simplify operations and enhance reliability
